PIN numbers are a common and necessary part of many transactions. However, they can also be the least used and most forgotten numbers. Here are four of the most common PIN numbers and their corresponding uses:

  1. Your social security number (SSN): This is the number that is used to identify you in transactions with government agencies. It’s also used to access some benefits such as healthcare or welfare programs.
  2. Your driver’s license number (DLN): This is the number that is used to access certain benefits, such as driving privileges or insurance.
  3. Your bank account number (BAX): This is the number that is used to access your bank account. It’s also used for fraud prevention purposes.
  4. The four-digit personal identification code (PIN): This is a unique code that you use to open doors, sign documents, or make other transactions at stores and restaurants.

Numerically based (0-9) 4-digit PIN numbers only allow for a total of 10,000 possible combinations, so it stands to reason that some combinations are going to be far more common than others. The question is whether or not your personal PIN number choices are among the commonly used ones or ‘stand out’ as being more unique.
