If you’re like most people, you probably use your Amazon Fire Tablet as your primary device for reading, watching videos, and doing other online tasks. But there are a few things you can do to make your tablet even more powerful and versatile. One way is to sideload apps onto it. Sideloading apps onto a tablet is a process that involves copying the app’s files to the tablet’s storage, then installing them from there. It can be a bit of a hassle, but it’s worth it in the long run because sideloaded apps offer increased performance and features. To sideload an app onto your Amazon Fire Tablet, first open the App Store on your device and search for the app you want to sideload. Once you find it, tap on the link in the text box below to start the process. Afterward, follow these steps:
- Tap on the three lines in the top left corner of your screen to reveal a list of available applications. This list will include all of the apps that are currently installed on your device.
- Scroll down until you find what you want to sideload and tap on it. This will take you to a new page where you’ll be able to choose which files to copy over from your device’s storage into your tablet’s storage. You can either choose all of them at once or select one file at a time depending on how much space you have available on your device.
- Tap on OK when prompted and then wait for the process to finish. When it does, you’ll be able to see an update message in your notification area that says “Sideloaded: [App Name] - Update.” If everything went well, this message should say something like “Sideloaded: com.apple.” If not, please check back later because something may have gone wrong during this process!
Why Would You Want to Do This?
One thing to keep in mind about sideloading apps is they won’t be able to receive automatic updates. That process is handled by app stores, which we’re not using. You’ll need to manually re-install new versions of apps and games if you want to stay up to date.

The first thing we need to do is get an APK file to download. You can go to APKMirror in the Silk Browser on your Fire tablet and download the app you’d like to sideload. Make sure to opt for “APK” files, not the ones labeled “Bundle.”
After it’s done downloading, tap “Open” from the message at the bottom of the screen.
A pop-up message will inform you that you need to allow the app to “install unknown apps” before you can install the APK. Tap “Settings” to be taken there.
Toggle the switch on to “Allow From This Source.” You only need to do this once for each app that you use to install an APK.
Now you can go back to the previous screen and tap “Install” to finish installing the APK.
That’s it! The app will be added to the home screen on the “Home” tab. This is a pretty simple process that will work for the majority of Android apps and games.
However, it can get tedious if you sideload a lot of apps, which is why installing the Play Store can be a better option.
